Description
In January 2015, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced planning grant awards to seven neighborhoods across the country. Flint was fortunate to receive a planning grant award for its target community. The South Flint Community Plan describes the tremendous opportunity to work collaboratively to improve the quality of life for local residents and creating a stronger, more connected community. The Plan presents strategies for greatly improving housing for current Atherton East residents while bringing community residents together in a series of conversations aimed at building better and stronger local relationships, increased job opportunities and improved services.The Planning Team was committed to developing a Plan that addresses past mistakes and creates equal opportunities for all members of the community to contribute.
